PRESS RELEASE : 'Inside Speedway’ Australian Microsprint Series Raring to Go for the 2009/10 Season: |
|||||
With the 2009/10 season only a few short months away; the ‘Inside Speedway’ supported Australian Microsprint Series is looking forward to what promises to be a very exciting and action packed season. The Australian Microsprint Series is to be held over a total of five rounds which includes a total of three rounds in New South Wales and a single round each in both Victoria and Queensland. Another new development with this season’s Australian Series is that of the five tracks hosting a round of this seasons series’; three of the tracks, Morris Park Speedway (Dubbo, NSW), Wangaratta City Speedway (Wangaratta, VIC) and Grafton Speedway (Grafton, NSW), have never previously hosted Micro Sprints. “Taking the Microsprints to new tracks is certainly a big step forward in the helping the growth and promotion of the class as a whole,” enthused Australian Microsprints president, Mal Paton. “All three of the new tracks are very enthusiastic about having the Microsprints at their track and we are all looking forward to putting on a show for the crowd that may have never previously witnessed Microsprint racing firsthand.” The Australian Series are pleased to confirm that Inside Speedway magazine have once again come onboard for the new season as the naming rights sponsor after a successful debut with the series last season. “Geoff Crisp and the team at Inside Speedway magazine have provided the Microsprint class with coverage that we have never previously been seen and it was great in our push to make Microsprint a truly national class,” Paton commented. “Promotion plays a huge part in Speedway racing and for this coming season we have really stepped it up in that area in order to gain maximum exposure for our class and of course our valued sponsors.” There has been plenty of interest in this coming season’s Australian Series and confirmed entries include defending Australian Series champion Les Nelson, along with current Australian Champion Steve Ellicott, former Australian Champion Rhys Marchant, multiple Queensland Champion John Giersbergen and last season’s ‘Rookie of the Year’ from the Tricorp Racing team – former Australian Formula Vee (Road Racing) Champion Jay Hall amongst others. There have been plenty of enquiries from a number of interstate competitors and there are also indications that a number of driver’s have imported new cars from America in readiness for this coming season, so it is certainly shaping up to an exciting and very fiercely fought season. Aside from the Australian Microsprint Series, the 2010 Australian Championship is to be held on January 2 at the Southern 500 Speedway in Portland – Victoria and it has been conveniently scheduled around the third round of the Australian Series that is to be held down at Wangaratta City Raceway in Victoria the following weekend. |
